Some back stage shots

Evillene and her 'eye boobs' giving Dellylu a creepy hug. The eyelids open and shut with wires in her corset.

Two of the crows.  Lovely Donna came up with the clever head piece.

Dorothy in the costume Izzy Rose designed for her.

The Wiz in her 'power coat', my piece de resistance.  Made from ten sweaters and a knit skirt.

Izzy's first day of high school 2010

Besties on the first day of high school.
Someone needed a cuddle.

This is the top of the hill they have to climb every day.

Well, I didn't get the photos I wanted: it was a crazy morning. You can see the excitement, though. I love the girls having uniforms. No makeup, hair tied up, no jewelry, specific shoes and socks. The only choice is 'dress' or 'skirt'.

No comfort here

Poor Izzy came to me in the middle of the night complaining she couldn't sleep. My groggy advice?

"Get a flashlight and read the newspaper."

Note I said 'flashlight' instead of 'torch'. When I'm not quite there I'm American.

It's better than the last time. I told her to stop breathing. She was loud and keeping me up!

Baby Cate,

In the car today I said, 'Oh, Courtney will have her baby today!' Izzy asked, 'How do you know?'

I replied, 'She is going to be induced.'

Dellylu asked, 'What's induced?' I fumbled, 'It's when your body...they start...'

From the seat next me Izzy mumbled, 'Now the hard part.'

I could not stop laughing.

hot hot hot

It is currently 95 degrees F inside our house, and it is almost 8pm. Our air conditioner is broken and I have missed the repair man several times. Many Queensland homes don't have AC at all, so we feel very blessed. The high school where I work has un air-conditioned classrooms, and so does Izzy's future school.

So it is 95 deg. and we are eating dinner outside. A breeze kicks up and I moan in relief. Hubby (a tough, rabid greenie) says, 'Nature's air conditioning.' And Izzy says, 'If nature weren't so hot we wouldn't need air conditioning.' Gotta love the logic!

Izzy

Izzy was so comfortable in the water, and was always one of the first off and last on the boat. In the top photo, she is waving her hand over a feather star. The shadow makes the Christmas tree shaped creatures pop into their little hole, like magic.

Izzy took these photos when we were next door for Goong Goong's birthday. Quite the 'budding' photographer!
