The girls went to their first film festival and saw Asterix aux Jeux Olympiques, their first subtitled film, starring Gerard Depardieu, Alain Delon and Michael Schumacher. It was hard for Dellylu to read so fast, especially with all those Roman-esque names and grownup jokes. They both enjoyed it, and I hope it will spark an enduring interest in that important canon of French literature, Asterix comics.
I've never heard of Asterix but it sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI read about it in on wikipedia-- apparently it is well known everywhere except Japan and the USA--- why am I not surprised?! I will see if netflix has it...
The comics are amazing, and require a surprisingly high reading level. The girls really did enjoy the movie, and benefited from even a short (2 day) exposure to the books before they saw it.
