from the garden

Our bounty. I am really enjoying the garden lately: the weather is perfect. We've got miniature roses, cherry tomatoes, oranges, limes and avocados. Acutally the avocados come from the neighbours' property, but they do roll down to our place!

  1. You know this one is right up my alley! I still think the rolling avocados are funny! Are the yellow citrus fruits lemons or limes? I'm wondering about the taste--- Jim lived in California much of his life and he raves about the lemons right off the tree--- says they are nothing like the store bought---like they aren't so sour--- Is that the way yours taste?

  2. In this photo the yellow fruits are limes. They are pretty sweet, and I make a syrup with them. It's called 'cordial' here and we use it with cold water to make drinks, like cool aid. I also make margaritas, sometimes...

Have I told you that our dogs eat avocados? They carry and bury them like bones, and eat them, chewing them all up. There is nothing left but a very clean pit when they are finished. It's so funny to see them trotting downhill from the orchard with one in their mouth. They settle in their beds for a good gnaw.

  3. I want to try the lemons in Cal and your limes--- it just boggles my mind that they aren't tart.

Dogs do such funny things! Little dogs do trot around very self importantly and proud, don't they. My old Oscar trotted around like a little mayor. Guess you don't have to bother buying those rawhide bones.
